Garden & Gun...

Last week I had dinner at the Urban Cafe and there, on the bar, were two magazines. The first was Dwell and the second was Garden & Gun. I had seen Dwell before but had never heard of G&G. Curious, I began to thumb through it and found it to be entertaining. It was certainly southern. There was a special article on Sweet Iced Tea. I just knew that I had to read it. After reading it I was a bit dissappointed that there was no mention of a gun but I certainly had a hankerin' for a tall glass of tea. The next article was a riveting black and white photo spread of the Water Women of Cedar Key. Apparently these women make a living digging for clams and oysters. And finally, there was the article about Beauregard Turner, the son of Ted Turner (you know, Jane Fonda's ex-husband). He looks totally gay and even gayer with a 100 year old 12 gauge shotgun flung over his shoulder. The article was very dull. It went on and on how he runs land acquisitions and his love of children and hunting and hunting with his children at his home Avalon Plantation. Perhaps we should name our loft, something dramatic would work. I am certainly not going to hurry out and order a subscription but I did enjoy the magazine.
