I came across an article today on the Tooth Fairy and the value of teeth. It got me thinking about when I was little. When I lost a tooth I would carefully place it under my pillow and would awake to a shiny silver dollar. I would be so excited. My mother would then tell me that she would keep it in a special place because silver dollars are special and should never be lost or spent. I believed her and handed over my silver dollar for safe keeping. Every time I lost a tooth I would get yet another shiny silver dollar and my mother would put it away for me. This went on for a while, at least until I lost my baby teeth. I was a fool. You see I would forget about the silver dollars. I knew they were kept in my mother’s bedroom, I even knew where, but I never though anything of it. Not until years later did I realize that both my brother and I had been taken for a ride. My mother was using the same silver dollar for each tooth. That woman owes me at least six or seven dollars.
